This model features the distinctive late war camouflage of Hauptmann Paul-Heinrich Dhne. It features a red band on the rear of the fuselage as used by JG1 while defending the reich.
The Fw190 was a fighter that played a vital role as Germany desperately tried to stem the tide of the advancing Russian and Allied forces that were crushing it from two directions. Early in 1945 there was an influx of Fw190s at the Eastern Front tasked with slowing the inexorable Russian advance. One such fighter was the Black Double Chevron Fw190A-8 flown by Hauptmann Paul-Heinrich Dhne, Gruppenkommandeur of II./JG 1. Dhne was credited with over 100 wartime victories before being shot down himself on 24 April 1945.
