The Dauntless was without a doubt, the most successful dive-bomber produced by the Americans during WWII as this two-seater was a tough and reliable option against the Japanese. The SBD-5 was the most extensively built version used by the armed forces. It featured more horsepower and a higher top speed than previous variants along with increased ammunition capacity and illuminated sights for forward and rear firing machine-guns.
