The Lim-2 was manufactured under license in Poland and was almost an exact copy of the late production Soviet MiG-15bis. The company with the license was WSK "PZL-Mielec" located in Mielec and in the 1950s quickly became the biggest aircraft producer in Poland. Production of over 500 Lim-2 aircraft and licensed VK-1 engines, named the
Lis-2 took place from 1953 to 1956.
The 1st Fighter Regiment �Warsawa� was formed on July 7 1943 as the 1st Independent Fighter Squadron. On August 20 1943 renamed the Polish 1st Fighter Regiment and finally the 1st Fighter Regiment �Warsawa� on October 1943. During 1959 the 1st FR was based in Minsk Mazowiecki Air Base flying the Lim-2 Fagot B.
