A Soviet heavy tank known for its extremely heavy armor protection, which was capable of resisting all German anti-tank weapons up to 75 mm and 88 mm calibre, both of which were comparatively rare at the time of the initial German invasion of the Soviet Union in World War II. Designed to replace the disappointing multi-turreted T-35 heavy tank, the Soviet KV was in service from 1939 to 1945. The KV's design goal was have a tank with impenetrable armor. It was slow and difficult to steer but had good firepower and traction. By 1942, with the introduction of 50 and 75 mm guns and the high-velocity MK 10 made the KV obsolete although it remained in service through the end of WWII.
The 1:32 scale Soviet KV1 heavy tank by Forces of Valor features moveable forward and rear machine guns and separately applied battlefield equipment such as tow cables and spare track. The top portion of the hull is constructed in diecast metal, and the rotating turret with opening crew hatch is constructed in detailed plastic. The model's wheels and sprockets spin freely inside rolling rubber tracks, and there is a pivoting metal cannon up front. Battlefield diorama accessories are included.
