The Junkers Ju 88 was a medium bomber/dive-bomber. It was the most versatile German warplane of the World War II era. It was almost as fast as the fighters of the era, and possessed superior maneuverability. The aircraft was equipped with one forward-firing 13 mm MG 131 or two 7.92 mm MG 81 machine-guns, two similar guns in the rear of the cockpit firing aft and two below the fuselage firing aft. The Ju 88 could carry up to 4,409 pounds of bombs.
