U.S. Air Force's air demonstration squadron, the Thunderbirds, are based at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. The squadron tours the United States and much of the world, performing aerobatic formation and solo flying in specially-marked USAF jet aircraft. The Thunderbirds traded their T-38s for F-16As in 1983 and in 1992 they upgraded to Block 32H/J F-16Cs. For the 2009 season, they are flying more powerful Block 52 F-16Cs.
